Needs

  • Gaps in connectivity to signals with some agencies.
  • Limitations on ability to implement integrated signal timing for routes that cross multiple jurisdictions.
  • Limitations on data sharing between regional partners restricts the ability to collaborate between freeway and arterial management.
  • Limitations on integrated traffic management capabilities in response to incidents.
  • Limitations on real time status of signal performance prevents efficiency during maintenance calls.

Scoping

  • Request existing geolocated communications connectivity from all agencies in the region. Capture both fiber and wireless communications equipment.
  • Determine universal platform that can be accessed by all agencies in the region.
  • Develop inventory list of all software, programs, and equipment used by each agency.
  • Identify future agency interconnects and system needs included forecasted bandwidth demand.
  • Create a phased build-out of communication infrastructure to address the defined demand.
  • Capture both fiber and wireless communications equipment.
